Fugro wins infrastructure contract in Turkey

Fugro has been awarded a contract by the joint venture NOMAYG (NUROL - ÖZALTIN -MAKYOL -ASTALDI - YUKSEL - GOÇAY) in Turkey to carry out a major infrastructure project on the Izmit Bay Bridge in Turkey. The project, which starts immediately, has a value of Є 11.9m and will extend into the third quarter of 2010.

The contract involves onshore and offshore geophyscis, drilling to collect samples, seismic studies and trenching, geological mapping, geotechnical laboratory testing and earthquake engineering. With these specialised services Fugro will assist NOMAYG, who has won the concession to design, build and operate the 421-kilometer Bursa-Balikesir-Izmir High way Project in Turkey. The project includes the Izmit Bay crossing that has a suspension  bridge which is located in the North Anatolian Fault zone, one of the worlds most active plate boundaries.
